March 14

Many of Jesus’ disciples found it hard to understand Palm Sunday.  They noticed that Jesus knew things that no one else could know, like what kind of animal He would ride into town on and even where to find that animal.  Then came the parade.  People cheered for Jesus.  To honor Him they lined the road with palm branches and their coats.  The people thought they knew who Jesus was.  They thought He had come to free them from the Romans.  But they really didn’t understand either.  God knew it would be hard to understand the events of Palm Sunday with out the Holy Spirit’s help.  By being firmly rooted in God’s Word we find out that Jesus came to earth as a baby born in Bethlehem.  He came to teach who He is and to show His love by taking away our sins.  Jesus is true God and true man.  He is our Savior!  Through faith and the Holy Spirit’s power we can understand Palm Sunday and the events that are to follow this week.

We pray God’s blessings on all our students who will be confirmed this Sunday at the 11:00 a.m. worship service.  Katie Sanders, David Howard, and Joseph Fuoco have studied hard all year and are prepared to publicly proclaim their faith.  We will continue to keep you in our prayers as you celebrate this important milestone in your life.

Our prayers are also with our top spellers this week as they compete in the Downriver Spelling Bee on Wednesday, March 19, at Lutheran High Westland.  The spellers in the “A” Division, 7-8 Grade, are Bobby Miller, Helene Woyczesczyk, Katie Sanders, Joseph Fuoco, Jeremy Bauer, and David Howard.  The spellers in the “B” Division, 5-6 Grade, are Lauren Burger, Cameron Cherry, Joey Edwards, Korenna Wheeler, and Ally Kirkorian.
