December 12
Where do we see Christmas? In papers, magazines, stores, and decorated windows? Do we see Christmas at home where Mom is busy buying gifts and wrapping them and Dad just put up the tree that you have to decorate? Something special is going on, something important is about to happen. What should we be seeing? The candles of the Advent wreath and the paraments on the altar talk about repentance, about sorrow for sin, and about the need for a Savior. To see what we should see at Christmas we must look in the right place, God’s Word. We must be firmly rooted in that old, old story and see in Jesus our Savior and Lord. We can see His love, care, forgiveness, and resurrection as something that was just for us. We then can branch out and tell everyone that we can really see Christmas in that lowly manger, we can see Christmas in the angel’s words and song, and we can see Christmas together in worship, praise, and prayer.
The First-Eighth grades will present their Christmas service on Tuesday, December 18, at 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Their theme centers on Jesus Born for Us. The students have been working hard on their parts and song and can’t wait to tell you that Jesus was born to save us. We are asking each family to bring a dozen cookies for a reception after the 7:00 p.m. service. Just bring them in on Tuesday and thank you for sharing some of your favorite Christmas cookies.
